Feeling really thankful that my friend Yayoi arrived safe and sound from Japan, just days before the devastation that hit.
We had a bake sale at work to raise funds for the Red Cross relief effort last week. And a friend recently told me about Toronto Bakes for Japan, a city-wide bake sale taking place at numerous venues such as The Evergreen Brickworks and The Rivoli on April 9 and 10. I considered volunteering to bake but I think this time I might just sample everyone else's delicious wares.
And speaking of delicious wares, I finally opened up one of the gifts Yayoi brought me back from Japan– little baby chick pastries! They are almost too cute to eat; the Japanese are such artisans of packaging. Thanks for the goodies from afar, Yayoi. I'm so happy you and your family are safe and that is the best gift.
